Moving Forward Programs
This ongoing project is funded in part by Service Canada. It leverages the expertise, facilities and resources of Potential Place Society and the Calgary Community Kitchen Program. All male and female participants that take part in this training program are not necessarily just Potential Place members but they are presently living with a mental health issue and consequently may be at risk of homelessness.
The goal of Moving Forward is to improve their lives and raise the employability of all participants by offering them opportunities to increase their “Essential Life Skills”. The staff will provide them with all the necessary supports in order to assist them in finding permanent part time employment.
By providing participants with both the classroom skills instruction, it also provides “Hands-on” Warehouse Skills Training. This is done in order to adequately prepare our participants for employment opportunities in the Food Warehousing Industry. All graduates have not only certificates in WHIMIS, First Aid, and all three classes of Fork Lift Training but will also have six months of training under their belts.
