WHO COMES TO POTENTIAL PLACE?

Potential Place is for anyone of any age who has a diagnosed mental illness.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS PLACE IS FOR ME?

If you want more out of life for the next few decades than this is your chance.

If you don't see what we are about then you will never know.

We can GUARANTEE that if you come to Potential Place and participate in our program than unbelievably, YOU WILL GET BETTER!!

WHY A TOUR?

We believe that you must make an informed choice about volunteering to become a member of our community.  We also want to know a little about you. A tour will help you see the differences between Clubhouse and other mental illness programs. Please just come and meet us. It will also give you an opportunity to ask all the questions you want.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A TOUR?

The tour itself lasts for only about 30 to 45 minutes. Typically your will be guided by one or two people, usually members, to show you around the Clubhouse.  They explain who we are and what we do and where we do it.  They will answer any questions you have.

We realize that this experience might make you feel anxious so we do what we can to make you feel comfortable. If you want to bring your worker, or a family member along with you then feel free to do so.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A TOUR?

We know a tour is just the beginning for new members so, after the tour we will invite perspective members to attend one of our weekly orientation meetings where they can find out all about the Clubhouse philosophy and the Clubhouse Standards. How we conduct our operations and of course the whys are spoken about and of course we want to be sure to answer all of the questions that are asked.

We find that his is one of the most important meetings as a number of new members can find a little comradery with each other as they learn about Potential Place together. We also have weekly "Colleague Development" meetings to help new members and staff develop better working relationships as well as to enhance our knowledge about how we operate. Someone will assist you to filling out an intake package and go over all that information with you.

WHEN CAN I ACTUALLY BECOME A MEMBER?

You can become a member only after you have attend the orientation meeting or you can come back a few times and participate in the units until you are sure this is what you want to do. After that we would hope to set up a buddy system with other members to ease into the Clubhouse.

You will then receive your uniquely numbered International Clubhouse Membership card. That is all it takes to be a member!

Once you are a member you can come to the Clubhouse whenever you want to. You never have to book an appointment. Just show up when we are open.
